Makeup Monday: Purple Hair+Hunger Games

Darlings,
You know how much I love my hair stylist, Emily. She just rocks so hard. :)
Well, last week I was overdue for a trim and color. At this point, I trust her so much that I don't feel the need to bring photos or anything unless we are doing a huge change. Her judgement is good enough for me.

So, I sat down in the chair and we started discussing what we would do with my hair. In have been lusting after brightly colored hair for a while, especially after my trip to NY in September, where I saw girls with pink and pastel hair everywhere.
I mentioned in passing that I wish I could have purple hair, and Emily kind of looked at me and said "Well, why not...?"
We hopped in the car and went to the beauty supply, and picked up the dye. AND NOW I HAVE PURPLE HAIR!

Wowza - absence makes you miss me?

Darlings,
It has been a busy busy month. First off, my honey took me to NYC to visit my 2 best friends for a week. It was wonderful, and the outfits I chose were spot-on. Thank goodness. ;)
Then, we came home and packed up our house in Tyler. All of it.
Then, we were in Austin for 2 weeks, staying with about 5 different people, waiting to move.

Then, we got in the car and drove from Austin to Albequerque to Flagstaff to Salt Lake City to Boise to PORTLAND.
Now, we live in Portland... but not in our own house yet. We are staying with some friends of our friend's parents for a week.
Then, we move into our place on Sunday. For a 3 month lease. :) Then we move again... hahah

So here's a little taste of what fashion has been for the last month or so:

Ombre:
It was super fun, but I was growing weary of my long hair...
We went to a rooftop wig party, and I wore this silly little number....
which made me think - maybe I can do short?
We really enjoyed shopping. I got this whole outfit from urban Outfitters. :)
When I got home, I kept thinking about the hair thing...
I decided to cut it all off and donate to Locks of Love!

I have NEVER had hair this short. It feels fun. Haha, dude... I can't believe I did it. But I love it.

I'll become more regular again (in every way, but most specifically blogging) next week once I have a home.

How to get hot rolled hair without hot rollers.

Lovies,
I have been dying to do a hair tutorial, but I have such a  terrible camera that I have avoided it. However, that seems like such a silly reason to keep from doing something, so here it is. My first try at a hair tutorial. :)

1. Start with dry hair (I had washed mine at about 7 that morning, dried it, and then styled it around noon so it was thoroughly dry). Day old hair would be good it you can swing it.

 2. Starting at the top, curl the hair straight back down the center of the head, to the nape of the neck.
Work your way down on the sides.
Secure each curl with bobby pins so it stays in.

{this pattern is almost exactly what i did}

3. Let the curls set while you put on your makeup and get dressed.

4. once you are all dolled up, take the pins out and shake it up! Toss your hair around a bit, and mist hairspray all over.

I'll be doing my makeup tutorial soon for this look!

Tell me - is this worth it? Or should I refrain from doing these series until I get a better camera? I'd love to know what you think. :)

Friendship Bracelets Take Forever. I made two.

Lovelies,

Remember making friendship bracelets? Why did we stop doing that?

Oh. I remember why. It takes a hundred years and hurts your back.

HOWEVER - I am a slave to fashion, so I went forth. Because it's cute, dammit.
I could barely remember how to do it, so I found this GREAT tutorial at Honestly WTF, which re-taught me everything. :)

Then, I sat down with my Grandmolly (the gp's were visiting, and the men decided to take a nap), and we chatted while I wove.
First bracelet took about 2 hrs. omg.

Today, I realized that I had bought 5 other things of thread. holy moses, I couldn't just waste it. So, I put on "The Princess and the Frog" - what? It's awesome - and it took slightly longer than the movie to finish my second bracelet (probably took so long because I was riveted by the story. and oprah).
The results? Here ya go:

I paired them with some S&D bracelets... And I'm loving it!

I also painted my nails today. You can't see very well in the photos because my camera is crappy. BUT, I used Revlon Black Lingerie (2 coats) followed by Revlon TopSpeed in Royal (1 coat). It turned out to look really thick, matte, and lovely. I highly recommend this combo.

In addition, I wore this outfit, using my new scarf as a belt. Cute for a lounge-day at the casa. :)

Seriously, it's difficult to look cute when you are using the 2-second timer in your kitchen! haha :)

Have a gorgeous weekend, stay safe, and enjoy yourselves! I'll be back Monday!

Dip-Dye Hair {By Salon Verve}

Darlings,

Today... I decided to go bold. As in, I have new hair.

I have always had pretty conservative hair - long, nice, pretty girl hair. I realized that I am tired of that for now! ;)

SO, I went to Salon Verve to get my hair done by Evette Tritt. She is kind of a whiz - I am always so pleased with her work. I knew she would work with me to create something awesome.

After some discussion, we came up with a strategy. And I wound up with this:

Fabulous dip-dye hair! I even go better with the environment:

Haha. :)
I love it. I love having hair that is as sassy as I feel.

Side note - my outfit today was so fun. I wore a thrifted skirt and a billowy top, with stacked bracelets and funky shoes. So so fun. :)

What do you think? Would you do cotton-candy dip-dye hair? ;)
