Sleepy day
My loves,
It is about to get cold here... again. I am so ready to be warm. Meh.
On the bright side, I got a great haircut today at Salon Verve! nothing like a quick spruce and a shampoo to liven things up. :)
I am tired today. But this made me happy:

A wonderful new salon in Tyler
Vixens,
As we ALL know, finding a hair stylist can be a nightmare. You need someone who cares about what you want, but has vision for your look that you couldn't even dream of. You need someone who can do color, cut, styling, events... everything. And you have to really like that person. A lot.
So, I wanted to let you Tyler darlings know about my favorite salon, Salon Verve.
Owned by Evette Bateman Tritt, this salon is in a rustic building in Downtown Tyler. They have exposed brick walls, and a truly lovely atmosphere. Evette is wonderful, and extremely talented. And on top of all that, the prices are among the best I've seen.
I highly recommend Salon Verve, loves! Check them out!

p.s. Don't forget about the New Year Discounts! You MUST book before Feb 1! :)

Skinny clothes
Darlings,
Until we get the holiday fluff off, I think it is important to still feel lovely. Because, let's face it, nobody with a life notices those 5 pounds. It's just us noticing our silly flaws and forgetting how super-mind-blowingly hot we are. So, when you get dressed in the morning, I want you to put on something that makes you feel like a sex kitten. or a goddess. Whichever you prefer. :)
I like this:
$75
Find it here.
Or you can go for a totally effortless look, like this girl:

Also - I want you to wear heels. Do it. You will be amazed at how sexy you feel just adding heels to your jeans+ simpleshirt outfit.
I have been wearing these non-stop:

basically, lovelies, I want you to feel fancy. You are such bombshells. :) I lurve you.

The skinny... photo, that is.
Hello, you fantastic babes! I hope Monday is treating you well.
I was looking at my photos from my Italy trip, and realizing how crucial a good photo can be for one's self-esteem... You know it. Especially at this time of year, when everyone feels a little chubs.
So, I think it is a good idea to take a minute to talk about what makes a good (or bad) photo.
Here I am - looking less-than-premium:
that's me on the right.
Not so cute? Eh?
You will notice that this photo is taken from below us. NEVER a good idea...
Even if i "tuck my chin" and such, there is no way to be pretty like this. Squinty eyes, dead arms, scrunched face. Nope.
Here is me looking... significantly better:
Not taking into account the magically better photo quality, you will notice that my eyes are more open. My chin is tilted a a much better angle. I am not making a stupid face.
So, even though me chin isn't "tucked," I look better in this photo.
You know what it takes? Seriously?
You have to sit in front of a mirror for a hundred hours making faces. When you think you have it, you don't. Find a friend - make her take photos. Assess the best ones. Figure out how to replicate that face/position/attitude.
You may think you know the rules. But you must take into account your face shape - I have a really angular chin, coming out of a really soft face. I had to learn to work it. My friend Laurs, on the other hand, has almost no chin. So, when she tried to tuck it, she got turtle face. No good.
We literally sat for twenty minutes one night, taking and assessing photos. Now, she knows her photo-face. Which is good, because she is as gorgeous in pictures now as she is in real life.
Taking the time to figure it out is so worth it. :)
This week, let's talk about how to feel skinny and cute even with the post-holiday hibernation bloat.
Do you have any questions/suggestions on taking a great photo? I would love to hear from you.

A lesson on Trendiness
Hello and Happy New year, my lovelies!
I am back from Italy with some fun thoughts and a few presents for myself - like gucci sunglasses... ;)
I was noticing whilst trekking through Rome how trend is sometimes not so hot. About 80% of the people I saw there were wearing some variation of this jacket:

found here.
Now, I'm not hating on trendiness. I dig trendy. But, I would like to remind us all that if an item makes you look fatter... It is a bad idea. (Parachute pants, anyone?)
So, while I did see a ton of beautifully dressed people, I also saw that a great portion of them had gotten sucked into a wholly unflattering trend. The lesson here? If it doesn't make you look/feel/act beautiful, don't buy it.
When I style you, I will make sure not to put you in anything dumb. I promise. :)
I missed you guys. Glad to be back.
xoxo,
dash
